DyeStat Preview National Scholastic Championships

There should be plenty of fireworks and bombs flying when the top throwers in the nation square off in a pair of epic throwdowns at the 27th National Scholastic Championships this weekend in New York. Although there’s no shortage of talent on the track or in the jumps, there’s no question that the shot put and weight throw will take center stage in the boys competition at the New Balance Track & Field Center as one of the greatest fields ever assembled will trade bombs in the circle…

The girls weight throw is deep with 11 of the 13 top throwers will go at it. US #1 Shelby Ashe of St. Pius GA (60-5 ¾), and defending champion and US#2 Melissa Kurzdorfer of Lancaster NY (60-2) should have quite a battle for the top spot. Also keep an eye on US# 4 Daina Levy of Kennesaw Mountain GA (57-8 ½), US# 6 Patrice Gates of Villa Rica GA (54-5 1/2), and US# 7 Karen Henning of St. Anthony NY.
