HSHammer.com has unofficially compiled state and national all-time lists for the past decade. We recently updated the records to include new marks from 2011.
The past year has produced new records in many categories. Shelby Ahse (St. Pius X, Atlanta, GA) had perhaps the most impressive record. Her season’s best of 211’4″ broke the national senior class record. The old record, held by Marueen Griffin, was the longest standing boys or girls national class record. Eleven state records were broken, including eight girls state records and three boys state records.
There were also many changes to the national all-time lists. Ashe remains first on the girls list with her national record from last season and Diana Levy (Kennesaw Mountain, Kennesaw, GA) moved up to fourth. Overall, there were six improvements in the top 35. Brad Bolton (El Toro, Lake Forest, CA) moved up to eight on the boys list. He also produced the sixth best mark ever with the adult 16-pound hammer. Overall, there were four improvements in the top 31.
