Great Southwest Classic (NM) Results

imgresHaley Showalter (Valor Christian, Highlands Ranch, CO) regained the national lead over the weekend with a personal best of nearly ten feet at the annual Great Southwest Classic in New Mexico. Her best throw of 193’04” also broke her own Colorado state record and moved the junior up to 8th on the girl’s all-time national list. After the competition she spoke with Dyestat. Showalter had the chance to face some tough competition with competitors coming in from eight states. Kelli Thomas (Luella, Locust Grove, GA) grabbed second place and Cecilya Johnson (Lutheran South, St. Louis, MO) tossed a personal best of more than twenty feet to place third.

The boy’s competition was won by Michael Yow (Christian Life Prep, Fort Worth, TX). In his first meet of 2014 he added ten feet to his best from last year. William Partridge (Buena, Sierravista, AZ) and Clay Campbell (Verrado, Buckeye, AZ) both threw personal bests for second and third place.
