new-balance-outdoor-nationals-2013-01The hammer throw started off with some exciting competition at this year’s New Balance Outdoor Nationals. The boys championship final took place on Saturday with many lead changes and an exciting finish. Sophomore Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) took the early lead until Colin Minor (South Brunswick, Southport, NC) improved and took the lead heading into the finals. Adam Kelly (Barrington, RI) then briefly moved into second before Daniel Haugh (St. Pius X, Atlanta, GA) threw an equal distance. Haugh continued to improve and took the lead in the fifth round. Despite a subsequent improvement by Minor, Haugh held on for the win. Minor placed second, followed by teammates Kelly and Colantonio.
