Millrose Games (NY) Results

Adam Kelly (Barrington, RI) and Alva Hicks (Classical, Providence, RI) led a strong weight throw contingent from Rhode Island high to the 108th Millrose Games at the New Balance Track & Field Center at New York City Armory on Thursday.

millroseKelly’s winning throw of 83-03.25 was not only a personal best, but also broke his school, state and New England record of 83-00.00 set in January. Following Adam in second place was teammate Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) with a throw of 76-07.25. Right behind Colantonio in third was Owen Russell (Moses Brown, Providence, RI) who threw 72-08.50, and Mike Alvernaz (Barrington, RI) finished a strong fourth with a throw of 68-00.25. Eric Sheng (Syosset, NY) threw 66-07.75 for fifth and John Putnam (Massapequa, NY) threw 60-10.75 finishing sixth.

In the girls’ weight throw Hicks won with a throw of 53-02-75 narrowly beating teammate Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI) who had a throw of 52-10.00. In third was Mariah Mays (Rome Free Academy, Rome, NY) with a throw of 51-09.25. Fourth was Monae Cooper (New Rochelle, NY) with a throw of 50-00.00 followed in fifth by teammate Jessica Jeffrey (New Rochelle, NY) who threw 47.04.50. Rounding out the top six was Kristina Insingo (Holy Trinity, Hicksville, NY) with a throw of 46-06.75.
