3/23/17 U.S. High School Hammer List
In the first outdoor performance list of the year, several throwers have hit some big marks. Last year’s girls leader Joy McArthur (Dana Hills, Dana Point, CA) has started off 2017 at over 199 feet, just four feet from her personal best. Shelby Moran (Sherwood, OR) ranks second after improving nearly 10 feet since last year. Tristan Bush (Saratoga, CA) is the early leader on the boy’s list after breaking 200 feet for the first time last weekend. That throws was a seven foot improvement on his best mark from 2016. Freshman Trey Knight (Ridgefield, WA) is among many close behind. He currently sits in third after improving more than ten feet on his best from last year.

Although the 3k hammer (girls) and 5k hammer (boys) throw are not normally
contested in the U.S. it is conducted in some meets at the Youth level. Girls
3k performances of 140’ and boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an
officially sanctioned meet will be included in the performance list providing
the athlete is no older than 17 years old through December 31, 2017
(born no earlier than in 2000).
