We have compiled our final rankings, looked at the statistical depth of results, and the geographic distribution of top throwers. Sons of Italy Track & Field Throwing Championships (RI) Results

At the last Rhode Island meet of the year Dilyn Cote (Woonsocket, RI) pulled off another win and Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI) hit a new personal best to win the girl’s competition. Read more

USATF National Junior Olympic Championships (KS) Results

The USATF National Junior Olympic Championships took place early in the week with 148 throwers across two age groups making the trip to Kansas. Danielle Gregory (Liberty, Wentzville, MO) was the big highlight of the competition with a new Junior Olympic age group record of 167’9″. Despite competing in the younger 15-16 year old age group she produce the best girl’s mark across both age groups. There were several other impressive performances including a 10 foot best by Mya Muse (Vestal, NY) to win the 17-18 year old age group. Read more

Centralia Hammer Meet 13 (WA) Results

In the final meet of this year’s Centralia Hammer Series, state champion Jordan Fong (Kentlake, Kent, WA) returned to capture another win. While she struggled in the high school competition, she hit a strong mark to win the open competition. Angus Beaton (Capital, Olympia, WA) won both the boy’s high school and open divisions. In the open division he also hit a personal best with the collegiate 16-pound implement. Read more

Pan American Junior Championships (Peru) Results

Over the weekend the top two finishers from the US Junior Championships competed against the best throwers from North and South America at the 2017 Pan American Junior Championships in Peru. US Junior champion Joshua Hernandez of Sam Houston State University came from behind to take the lead in the fourth round and held on to win gold in the junior men’s competition. Cameron Thompson of Connecticut missed out on a medal by just one foot and finished fourth. Read more

New York Hammer Series Meet 7 (NJ) Results

The latest meet in the New York Hammer Series ventured down south and actually took place in neighboring New Jersey. The level of competition also stood out this time With US champion Alex Young and NCAA champion Rudy Winkler both competing to try and improve their chances of qualifying for August’s world championships. At the high school level Michael Feldman (Tottenville, Staten Island, NY) recaptured his national lead with a new personal best of 242’8″. Feldman was the national leader earlier in the season but fell a few inches behind in June. His new mark improves the national lead by nearly four feet. His brother Steven Feldman (Tottenville, Staten Island, NY) also added nearly eight feet to his personal best for second place. Read more

Hammerama 2017 (RI) Results

A large contingent of hammer throwers assembled for the traditional summer Hammerama meet in Rhode Island on Sunday. Local thrower Keyarsa Harris (Central, Providence, RI) took the meet by storm. The junior added six feet to her personal best to win the high school girl’s competition. Jake Greenless (Woonsocket, RI) won the high school boy’s competition. Guest Anders Eriksson from Sweden also set a new meet record in the open division. Read more

Centralia Hammer Meet 12 (WA) Results

At the latest meet in the Centralia Hammer Series Ian Frost (Mary M. Knight, Elma, WA) was the star after throwing a new personal best. The junior added nearly four feet to his personal best with a winning throw of 209’04”. Later in the competition he also added a new best with the collegiate 16-pound hammer. Read more
