New Balance National Outdoors started on Friday and Saturday morning with the Emerging Elite competition. Ridvan Kazimov (South Forsyth, Cumming, GA) added three feet to his personal best to win by mere inches in the boy’s competition. The Connecticut State Championships hammer throw competition took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Christian Sturm (St. Paul Catholic, Bristol, CT) added two feet from his best to win the boy’s competition. Amanda Howe (Southington, CT) captured the girl’s title. Read more

Start lists released for New Balance Nationals Outdoor

A total of 160 competitors are ready to compete at this weekends New Balance Nationals Outdoor in North Carolina. The Emerging Elite competition will start on Friday with the boys and girls on Saturday. Saturday evening the boy’s championships will take place, followed by the girl’s championship on Sunday. The complete start lists are below, including seven of the nation’s top 10 throwers in the boy’s competition. On the girl’s side, national leader Samantha Kunza (Timberland, Wentzville, MO) will lead the way, with four of the nation’s top 10 throwers competing. Read more

Golden West Invitational (CA) Results

A pair of personal bests took home the titles at this year’s Golden West Invitational. Markayla Billings (Cosumnes, Elk Grove, CA) made her season debut with a big personal best to win the girl’s competition. Dagne Buck (Whitney, Rocklin, CA) of the Golden State Throwers also had his first meet of the year and added nearly seven feet to his personal best from last season to win the boy’s competition. New England High School Hammer Throw Championships (RI) Results

Despite poor weather, the New England High School Hammer Throw Championships Tuesday evening. Thunder, lightning and torrential rain delayed the meet, and the competitions with international implements were limited to just three throws. But that didn’t stop multiple great performances at the competition. Ryan Morel (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI), fresh off of a big personal best at the Rhode Island State Championships, produced the second best result of his career to capture the win over Garrett Doyle (Lincoln, RI). Jake Dalton (Andover, MA) threw a personal best for third, and freshman Logan Coles (Woonsocket, RI) hit 200 feet for the first time ever. Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) won the girl’s competition over Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI). Kelly also set a new meet record in the 3-kilogram competition. Read more

Ohio State High School Hammer Championships Results

Ohio State University hosted the Ohio High School Hammer Championship on Sunday with over 50 participants. In the boy’s competition, Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH), won a close competition over Dylan Litreal (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) and Dylan Beaird (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH). All three throwers were over 190 feet. In the girl’s competition state leader Emma Kowalski (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) took home the title. Read more

Rhode Island State Championships Results

At Saturday’s Rhode Island State championship, state leaders Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) and Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) captured the titles, but not without a little more competition than expected. In the final round of the boy’s competition, Ryan Morel (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) added more than eight feet to his personal best to come up just seven inches short of the win and freshman Logan Coles (Woonsocket, RI) snuck in for the bronze.. In the girl’s competition, Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI) won out in a close battle for second place over Cheyenne Figueroa (Classical, Providence, RI). Read more

Washington State High School Hammer Championships Results

Mayyi Maham (Pullman, WA) pulled off an upset to defeat state record holder and defending champion Jordan Fong (Kentlake, Kent, WA) at this year’s Washington State High School Hammer Championships. Maham’s winning effort of 175’4″ not only added more than a foot to her personal best, but it also set a new state meet record. In the boy’s competition, sophomore Trey Knight (Ridgefield, WA) defended his title, adding more than 30 feet to his winning mark from 2017 and extending his own national lead in the process. Ian Frost (Mary M. Knight, Elma, WA) was again over 200 feet in second place. Read more
