Connecticut Weight Throw Championships Results

Michael Browning (RHAM, Hebron, CT) and Alliya Boothe (Bloomfield, CT) both hit big new bests to extend their state leads and capture wins at the Connecticut Weight Throw Championships on Saturday. Browning added nearly four feet to his best to hold off a challenge from Joe Lanham (Coventry, CT), who also hit a two foot personal best. Boothe added two feet to her best in the girl’s competition, while Leah Moore (Hillhouse, New Haven, CT) improved four feet for silver. Read more

Yale Interscholastic Track Classic (CT) Results

Teammates Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) and Cheyenne Figueroa (Classical, Providence, RI) claimed titles once again this weekend at the Yale Interscholastic Track Classic. Read more

Dartmouth Relays (NH) Results

Natalia Surdej (Lancaster, NY) and Ryan Morel (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) both won at the traditional Dartmouth Relays on Saturday. Surdej improved for the second straight week, extending her best out to 55 feet to easily capture the title. The boy’s competition was much closer, with Morel coming out on top by less than three inches. Read more

TCITL Springfield Invite (MA) Results

James Cocca (Averill Park, NY) captured a big win with a season’s best of 65’8″ at the TCITL Springfield Invitational in Massachusetts on Sunday. Lily Gould (Shenendehowa, NY) won the girl’s competition. Read more

Connecticut State Championship Results

The Connecticut State Championships hammer throw competition took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Christian Sturm (St. Paul Catholic, Bristol, CT) added two feet from his best to win the boy’s competition. Amanda Howe (Southington, CT) captured the girl’s title. Read more

Yale Interscholastic Track Classic (CT) Results

Amanda Howe (Southington, CT) added a foot and a half to her best to claim victory at this year’s Yale Interscholastic Track Classic on Friday. Garrett Doyle (Lincoln, RI) continued a strong month to win the boy’s competition over Michael Gabriel (Greenwich Central, Greenwich, NY), who took second with a three foot personal best. Read more

TCITL Springfield Invitational (MA) Results

James Cocca (Averill Park, NY) took a close win over Michael Gabriel (Greenwich Central, NY). Cocca put together a strong series with four throws over his personal best from last February, and all six throws over his prior season’s best. Gabriel, making his season debut, also added more than four feet to his best and finished just three inches from victory. Read more

Dartmouth Relays (NH) Results

Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) took home the win at the traditional Dartmouth Relays on Saturday. While she was under her season’s best, all of her legal throws were well clear of the field and her best attempt secured the win by more than seven feet. In the boy’s competition Garrett Doyle (Lincoln, RI) threw three personal bests, added more than three feet to his best, and nearly broke 70 feet for the first time en route to a win. He also took over the Rhode Island state lead with his winning mark. Read more

CIAC Hammer Throw Championship (CT) Results

While held afer the standard state championships, Connecticut is a rare state where the high school federation officially sanctions a hammer throw state championship. Last week the CIAC Hammer Throw Championships wsa held on Tuesday and Thursday in New Britain with state leaders Christian Sturm (St. Paul Catholic, Bristol, CT) and Brittany Jones (Bloomfield, CT) capturing the titles. Jones was the most impressive in her victory as she came within a foot of her personal best and won the competition by nearl 20 feet. Read more

Yale Interscholastic Track Classic (CT) Results

Junior Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) improved the meet record, her state lead, and came within inches of the national lead at this year’s Yale Interscholastic Track Classic. Rao hit a new best of 59’6.25″ in the first round to secure the win and had multiple throws over 58 feet. Runner-up Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY) also set a new season’s best at the meet and Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) was just off his best to win and lead three Woonsocket throwers over 65 feet.
