Dartmouth Relays (NH) Results

A new meet record and personal best from Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) provided a big highlight to start the year at the traditional Dartmouth Relays. Rao, currently ranked second in the nation, added two inches to the meet record and won the competition by three feet Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY). Shippee set the meet record last year but was unable to repeat as champion despite adding three feet to her season’s best. In the boy’s competition Abraham Salako (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) took home the title. Read more

Hempfield Spartans Competition (PA) Results

National champion shot putter Jordan Geist (Knoch, Saxonburg, PA) made headlines on Thursday by launching the best result ever by a high schooler with the 16-pound shot put. But that was not his only highlight of the day. He also added nearly four feet to his personal best in the weight throw by tossing a nation-leading throw of 76’6″. Read more

USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships Results

The Olympic Trials may be going on out west, but in the east young throwers competed at the USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships this past weekend. Bobby Colantonio led three throwers over 200 feet to win the 17-18 year old division. Sophomore Myles Schreck (Trinity Prep, Winter Park, FL) won the 15-16 year old division with a personal best of 154’3″. The girl’s winners were Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) and Jessica Slagus (North Pocono, Moscow, PA). Read more

Connecticut Hammer Throw Championship Results

Favorites CJ Falcioni (Seymour, CT) and Erica Belvit (Bloomfield, CT) won very close competitions at this year’s Connecticut High School Hammer Throw Championships. Both athletes posted early leads, but held on for the title. Falcioni won by just two feet in the end thanks to two personal bests in the competition and Belvit was the only girl over 150 feet in her competition. Read more

Danbury Dream Invitational (CT) Results

Erica Belvit (Bloomfield, CT) added more than a dozen feet to her personal best to win the Danbury Dream Invitational on Thursday. Not only did Belvit improve her best, but she also added nearly five meet to the state record held since 2011 by Karina Foster. Runner-up and teammate Brittany Jones (Bloomfield, CT) was also just inches from the old record in second place. On the boy’s side CJ Falcioni (Seymour, CT) produced a state-leading mark to win. Irv Black Invitational (CT) Results

Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) became just the fifth thrower ever to break 250 feet on Friday at the Irv Black Invitational. Three of his six attempts also broke his previous personal best. The senior now ranks fifth best all-time and second best in Rhode Island state history. In the girl’s action, Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI) took home the win. Read more

Yale Interscholastic Track Classic (CT) Results

National leader Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) added inches to the meet record and laid down his second best performance of the year at the Yale Interscholastic Track Classic on Friday. While it did not produce a national lead, the girl’s competition featured a close three-way battle. In the end, Meagan Malloy (Smithfield, Esmond, RI) and Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI) had the same distance by the end of the meet. Malloy tacked on nearly three feet to her season’s best while Russell came within inches of the mark she threw last weekend. Malloy won in the end based on her second best throw. Fresh off of a big personal best and win at last weekend’s Dartmouth Relays, Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, NY) was close behind in third. Read more

Dartmouth Relays (NH) Results

National leader Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) dominated the competition at this year’s Dartmouth Relays. Colin Blair (Lancaster, NY) threw a personal best for second, but was more than eleven feet behind the eventual winner. In the girl’s competition Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, NY) added almost two feet to her personal best and moved up to second in the nation with a lead over Rhode Island state leader Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI). Boston Holiday Challenge (MA) Results

Junior Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY) started her season with a band at the Boston Holiday Challenge on Sunday. The Junior from New York added nearly a foot and a half to her personal best from last January, setting a meet record in the process. Her teammate Michael Jeffers (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY) also won the boy’s competition. Read more

Connecticut Hammer Throw Championship

Eric Bottelsen (Brookfield, CT) and Danika Okasia (Bloomfield, CT) were this year’s winners at the Connecticut Hammer Throw Championship on Wednesday. Okasia faced very close competition from state leader Faith Estelle (Bloomfield, CT), but a personal best in the first round was able to hold on for the win by less than two feet. It look a late fifth round effort for Bottelsen to take the lead, but in the end he won more convincingly. By throwing a new personal best he distanced himself from the competition by a dozen feet.
