Ohio State High School Hammer Championships Results

Senior Dylan Beaird (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH) extended his personal best at Sunday’s Ohio High School Hammer Championship to claim his first state hammer title. Close behind him were Tyler Arbaugh (Van Buren, OH), who broke 200 feet for the first time, and state leader Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH). A massive personal best helped Addison Hoover (Granville, OH) squeeze on the title in the girl’s competition. She improved by 14 feet in the competition and finished just one foot ahead of state leader Emma Kowalski (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH). Read more

Eastwood Throwers Invite (OH) Results

A massive improvement by Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH) helped him gain the Ohio state lead last weekend at the Eastwood Throwers Invite. He not only broke 200 feet for the first time last season, but added six feet to his personal best. Read more

Ohio Preview Meet Results

Michael Shoaf (Rocky River, OH) added over four feet to his best to with the Ohio Preview Meet on Saturday to tie the state lead. The mark into the nation’s top ten and easily handed him the win. State leader Addison Hoover (Granville, OH) won the women’s competition. Read more

Ohio results for the weekend of January 5

The Ohio weight throw season is getting into full swing with four big meets over the weekend. Chris Burkhart (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) added nearly three feet to his best to produce the best mark of the weekend and a new Ohio state lead at the Otterbein Early Bird Qualifier. Addison Hoover (Granville, OH) also broke 50 feet for the first time to lead the way on the girl’s side and also narrowly take the state lead. Read more

Ohio State High School Hammer Championships Results

Ohio State University hosted the Ohio High School Hammer Championship on Sunday with over 50 participants. In the boy’s competition, Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH), won a close competition over Dylan Litreal (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) and Dylan Beaird (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH). All three throwers were over 190 feet. In the girl’s competition state leader Emma Kowalski (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) took home the title. Read more

Criss and Rita Somerlot Meet (OH) Results

Dylan Beaird (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH) added an impressive 30 feet to win the Criss and Rita Somerlot Meet in Ohio on Sunday. Runner-up Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH ) also added 15 feet to his best in the competition. Emma Kowalski (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) easily won the women’s competition and was just inches off of her best. Read more

Ohio Indoor State Championships Results

Dylan Litreal (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) edged out a close win at the Ohio State Championships on Saturday. With two throwers going over 70 feet in the Division I competition, Litreal had his work cut out for him. Entering the final round Joel Crain (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH) sat in the lead after adding nearly two feet to his best, but Litreal responded with a new personal best to capture the title on his final throw. Other winners included Emma Kowalski (Hilliard Darby, Hilliard, OH) in the Division I girl’s competition. Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH) threw a best and had the third best mark over all divisions to win the Division II/III title. The top girl’s result of the weekend also came from Division II/III winner Lynnsey Winchell (Norwayne, Creston, OH), who also added more than four feet to her best. Read more

Grace Rigel (Leipsic, OH) broke 50 feet for the first time to win Sunday’s M-F Athletic Invitational in Ohio. The meet featured some close competitions, especially on the boy’s side where sophomore Tyler Arbaugh (Van Buren, OH) won by just one inch over Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH). Read more

Ohio State Hammer Championships Results

Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) was just one foot from his personal best to defend his Ohio state title. Lane was one of three throwers over 200 feet, including runner-up Jacob Wickey (Medina, OH) and a personal best from bronze medalist Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH). Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) won the women’s competition in convincing fashion. Her best throw of 158’10” secured the win by more than 20 feet. Teammates Katie Roush (Centerville, OH) and Jenna Tracy (Centerville, OH) also made the podium. Read more

Larry Kohring Eastwood Relays (OH) Results

Several top Ohio throwers started the season on Friday at the Larry Kohring Eastwood Relays. Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) added nearly ten feet to his best to win. His top mark of 219’5″ now ranks second in the nation. Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH) also started his season off with a new best and broke 200 feet for the first time. In the girl’s competition Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) and Madison Pollard (Anthony Wayne, Whitehouse, OH) were separated by just 13 inches as they took first and second. Both also produced marks that are among the top five in the nation. Read more
