New Balance Nationals (NC) Emerging Elite Results

The New Balance Nationals action started on Friday and Saturday with the Emerging Elite competition. Rhode Island state champion Zeke Cohen (Classical, Providence, RI) won the boy’s competition. After losing the lead in the final round, he responded with the winning throw. In the girl’s competition Amanda Howe (Southington, CT) was just inches from her best while winning a close battle with Natasha Stamp (Grayson, Loganville, GA), who hit a 10 foot personal best. Starts Lists for New Balance Nationals Released

The premier high school competition of the season starts on Friday in Greensboro, North Carolina. Top throwers from around the country will gather for the 2017 New Balance Nationals Outdoor. The start lists have been announced and feature a top notch field. In the boys competition nine of the nation’s top ten throwers will be there, led by national leader Michael Feldman (Tottenville, Staten Island, NY). The girl’s competition will feature defending champion Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY) against a strong field. Read more

Tennessee Indoor State Championships Results

Personal bests were all over the place at this year’s Tennessee Indoor State Championships Results. Tim Frizzell (Hardin Valley Academy, Knoxville, TN) and Camryn Bowman (Signal Mountain, TN) both threw bests to win this. Frizell added eight inches to his best while Bowman improved by more than two feet. Read more

Favorites won and lost at this year’s New Balance Nationals. The Emerging Elite sections kicked off the competition earlier this weekend, but on Saturday night and Sunday morning it was time for the main event, starting with the boy’s hammer throw championship. Read more

Action kicked off at New Balance Nationals on Friday and Saturday with the Emerging Elite sections of the hammer throw. Adrian Matos (Central, Providence, RI) and Samantha Andrews (Lincoln, RI) both won. The Championship section will take place on Saturday night for the boy’s hammer and Sunday morning for the girl’s hammer with many of the nation’s top throwers lined up to compete. Read more

Georgia State Hammer Championships

Big bests led the way at the Georgia State Hammer Championships last weekend. Favorite Isaiah Rogers (Campbell, Symrna, GA) added more than five feet to his personal best from last season to secure the boy’s title, with all the podium finishers improving their best too. In the girl’s competition Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA) also added to the PR parade after improving to 192’5″, a five foot improvement. Read more

University of Kentucky High School Invitational Results

The Throw 1 Deep crew travelled north again this weekend for another indoor competition and swept the titles at the University of Kentucky High School Invitational. Isaiah Rogers (Campbell, Symrna, GA) captured the boys title by beating out Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) in a faceoff between the third and fourth best throwers in the nation. The girl’s competition featured three of the top five girls in the country with Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA) coming out on top by nearly five feet. Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) and Shoshana Isis Trotman (Centerville, OH) placed second and third respectively. Read more

Vanderbilt High School Invitational (TN) Results

The Throw 1 Deep throwers from Georgia headed north to Tennessee over the weekend for a chance to improve on their indoor marks. They brought a contingent of 22 throwers with Isaiah Rogers (Campbell, Symrna, GA) and Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA) leading the way. Rogers broke the meet record by more than two feet with a winning effort of nearly 75 feet in the boy’s competition. Brinson, currently ranked second in the nation, was just more than a foot off of her best in winning the girl’s competition. Read more

USATF Indoor Alumni Age Group Invitational (AL) Results

The Georgia throws have been launching some big throws with the outdoor weight, but only opened up this weekend with the indoor season. And they did it in style. In the women’s action Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA), Sydnee Walker (King’s Ridge Christian, Alpharetta, GA), and Nia Seldon (Marietta, GA) all surpassed the current national lead. In the end Brinson came out on top with a toss of 57’10.25″. In the men’s action Isaiah Rogers (Campbell, Symrna, GA) broke the USATF Indoor Alumni Invitational meet record in Alabama on Saturday with the third best mark in the country this year at 73’6.25″. His teammate Ryan Camp (Archer, Lawrenceville, GA) also moved into the national top ten with an outdoor personal best of 68’1.50″. Read more

USATF Junior Olympics National Championships (FL) Results

An amazing 131 hammer throwers took part in the USATF Junior Olympics National Championships this week. After qualifying through various regional competitions, the athletes met for the nationals finals on Wednesday and Thursday. Leading the way in the boys’ competitions were Rhode Islanders Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) and Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI). Colantonio took the 17-18 division over Joshua Hernandez (El Paso Del Valle, El Paso, TX), who added two feet to his personal best. Briere won the 15-16 division, also with a personal best. Read more
