New Balance Nationals Championship Results

In a showdown of the two top girls in the country, national leader Haley Showalater (Valor Christian, Highlands Ranch, CO) narrowly edged defending champion Sabrina Gaitan (Sprayberry, Marietta, GA) to claim this year’s New Balance Nationals title. Makena Thomas (Narragansett, RI), seeded just eight entering the meet, finished only a few feet from her best to move up and secure bronze. Read more

New Balance Nationals Emerging Elite Results

new-balance-outdoor-nationals-2013-01To start of the action at New Balance Nationals, the Emerging Elite competitions took place on Friday and Saturday. The championships division action will conclude on Sunday. The leaders were John Putnam (Massapequa, NY) and Taylor Scaife (Howard, Ellicott City, MD). Putnam threw a personal best of more than ten feet to easily take the win over Michael Coppolino (Cumberland, RI). Scaife has competed sparingly this year, but was also the surprise winner at New Balance Indoor Nationals in March. This time she addded nearly 25 feet to her best for the win in a very close competition with Carly Timpson (Narragansett, RI). Read more

Georgia State Hammer Championships Results

Seth Whitener (North Paulding, Dallas, GA) led the way at the Georgia State Hammer Championships over the weekend. The senior threw a new best of 218’8″ to easily capture the win as the Throw 1 Deep club showed its depth. Whitener also posted a personal best with the 6-kilogram international implement, while Tatiana Taylor (Walton, Marietta, GA) was the top high school thrower in the girl’s competition. Read more

Coach O Beach Run (SC) Results

Several Ohio throwers made the trip south to South Carolina to make their outdoor season debut last weekend. Top outdoor returner Robert Landers (Wayne, Huber Heights, OH) won while sophomore Jake Wickey (Medina, OH) set a personal best. Savannah Marlow (Cherokee, Rogersville, TN) set a big 12 foot personal best to girl’s competition over Samantha Layko (Croatan, Jacksonville, NC). Read more
