Washington State Hammer Championships Results (WA)

Central Valley High School Junior Katie Wardsworth was atop the podium in last weekends Washington State High School Hammer Championship becoming only the second eastern Washington athlete ever to bring home the top prize with a state leading 148’5″ on her final throw. Central Valley senior Dakota Klimovich placed second with a throw of 141’7″ making it the first time in the events twelve year history one school has captured the gold and silver spots. On the boys side, Camas High Schools Triton Pitassi won the event with a throw of 191’4″ by just inches over Andy Miller of Capital High School in Olympia. Miller nearly took the title with his last throw, but it was measured two inches short of Pitassi’s mark. It was the closest finish in the history of the competition. State discus champion Damon Unland from Ferris also placed fourth with an all time best of 178’11”. (Text by Alan Wardsworth and Martin Bingisser)
