Rhode Island Class Championships Results

The top Rhode Island throwers competed across three class championships on Saturday. Adam Kelly (Barrington, RI) stopped the winning streak of national leader Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) with a narrow win in the Class B championship. Kelly and Colantonio traded the lead throughout the competition with Kelly’s best throw coming on his last attempt. Colantonio responded with an improvement, but ended up less than two feet short of the win.

In the girl’s competitions top throwers Alva Hicks (Classical, Providence, RI), Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI), and Meagan Malloy (Smithfield, Esmond, RI) all came away winners in their respective classes and had best throws merely two feet apart. The final at the state championships will surely be close.
