6/11/15 U.S. High School Hammer List
Everything is bigger in Texas and with two big marks in the hammer last week, that applies to the hammer throw too. Michael Yow (Fort Worth Lake County, TX) made his season debut with a big toss of 218’3″, ranking the junior six in the nation and breaking the state record. Joshua Hernandez (El Paso Del Valle, El Paso, TX) also debuted inside the top 10. Along with some improvements from Georgia last week, the tally of throwers over 200 feet has reached 17 so far this season.
In the girl’s hammer Haley Showalter (Valor Christian, Highlands Ranch, CO) retook the national lead at the Great Southwest Classic on Friday. And a personal best from Meagan Malloy (Smithfield, Esmond, RI) to win the Rhode Island state meet also moved her up the rankings.

Although the 3k hammer (girls) and 5k hammer (boys) throw are not normally contested
in the U.S. it is conducted in some meets at the Youth level. Girls 3k performances
of 140’ and boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an officially sanctioned
meet will be included in the performance list providing the athlete is no older than
17 years old through December 31, 2015 (born no earlier than in 1998).
