After taking the national lead last week Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, NY) won a narrow competition Friday night at the Armory in New York City. The exciting competition finished with the top four throwers less than a foot from one another. In second place was Nickolette Dunbar (Whippany Park, Whippany, NJ), making her season debut with an improvement of more than three feet over last year. Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) was less than an inch behind Dunbar, with Monae Cooper (New Rochelle, NY) a few inches behind her.

In the boy’s competition Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) launched another 80-foot throw to win the boy’s competition on Saturday. Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) placed second, less than a foot ahead of Cameron Thompson (Lakeland/Panas, Cortlandt, NY). Thompson’s best mark of 68’3″ added more than two feet to his personal best.
