2/16/17 U.S. High School Weight List
Poor weather in the northeast led to many cancelled meets over the past week, but that didn’t stop a lot of changes from coming to this week’s national performance lists. The biggest performer was Jake Wickey (Medina, OH). In a showdown of the nation’s top four boys at the Spire Scholastic Showcase, Wickey launched a personal best to steal the win in the final round and also extend his national lead by more than a foot to 78 feet. He now has a more comfortable cushion atop the list, but it is still a very wide open race to 80 feet this season. Jacob Slate (Chandler, AZ) also made his season debut out west to rank sixth nationally and become the eight thrower over 70 feet this season.
On the girl’s list, Shelby Moran (Sherwood, OR) threw a two foot personal best for the second straight week to move close to the national lead. She still sits in third place, but is now is just inches from the leaders. Molly Leppelmeier (McComb, OH) added more than three feet to her best to jump up six spots to fourth position. Brianna McKenzie (Lancaster, NY) also jumped into the top five over the weekend.
