4/13/17 U.S. High School Hammer List
While the Rhode Island season finally underway, there are many additions to the this week’s national performance lists. Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) started off the season with a win at the Knights of Columbus Relays and the second best mark in the nation. Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) also debuted in second after a win there and a toss of 172 feet earlier in the week.

Although the 3k hammer (girls) and 5k hammer (boys) throw are not normally
contested in the U.S. it is conducted in some meets at the Youth level. Girls
3k performances of 140’ and boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an
officially sanctioned meet will be included in the performance list providing
the athlete is no older than 17 years old through December 31, 2017
(born no earlier than in 2000).
