Despite only two valid throws, Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) captured the win, took over the Rhode Island state lead, and moved to number two in the nation at Friday’s New York Relays. The junior held off a close challenge from Garrett Doyle (Lincoln, RI), who also broke 200 feet in the competition. The girl’s competition was even closer. Sophomore Cheyenne Figueroa (Classical, Providence, RI) added more than six feet to her to take the win. Teammates Marissa Henley (Woonsocket, RI) and Katrina Kurowski (Woonsocket, RI) both also broke 150 feet and set new personal bests to place second and third respectively.
