5/24/18 U.S. High School Hammer List
Joseph Benedetto (John S. Burke Catholic, Goshen, NY) and Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) improved for the second straight week to become the biggest movers on this week’s national performance lists. Benedetto added 13 feet to his best to close in on the national lead with a new best of 223’2″. Also on the boy’s list, three new throwers broke 200 feet, bringing the total to 11 athletes over the barrier so far this season. The girl’s list was relatively quiet this week, with only one improvement in the nation’s top 20.

Although the 3k hammer (girls) and 5k hammer (boys) throw are not normally
contested in the U.S. it is conducted in some meets at the Youth level. Girls
3k performances of 140’ and boys’ 5k performances of 160’ or more in an
officially sanctioned meet will be included in the performance list providing
the athlete is no older than 17 years old through December 31, 2018
(born no earlier than in 2001).
