Rhode Island State Championships Results
At Saturday’s Rhode Island State championship, state leaders Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) and Gianna Rao (Ponaganset, North Scituate, RI) captured the titles, but not without a little more competition than expected. In the final round of the boy’s competition, Ryan Morel (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI) added more than eight feet to his personal best to come up just seven inches short of the win and freshman Logan Coles (Woonsocket, RI) snuck in for the bronze.. In the girl’s competition, Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI) won out in a close battle for second place over Cheyenne Figueroa (Classical, Providence, RI).
