Simplot Games (ID) Results
National leader Trey Knight (Ridgefield, WA) had a huge day on Thursday at the Simplot Games in Idaho. Knight started off the competition with a foul, then challenged his season’s best in the second round and continued to improve on each throw in the competition. By the end of the meet Knight not only extended his national lead by six feet, he also added three feet to his personal best from last year, and came within 15 inches of the national junior class record, and moved up to rank as the second best high school weight thrower of all time. He also broke the meet record, which was no easy feat as it was set back in 2004 when Leif Arrhenius threw 82’7.25”. “It feels pretty good to finally be here,” Knight said after the meet. “I’ve wanted to break the record for a while, and to break it at Simplot Games and PR at the same time is awesome.”
