Mizzou HS Series #2 (MO) Results

Chandler Hayden (Pittsfield, IL) competed in her first indoor meet of the season on Sunday at the Mizzou HS Series #2. The senior easily won with a throw of 57’2.25″, good enough to place her in the nation’s top three this season and just one foot shy of her personal best from 2018. Samantha Kunza (Timberland, Wentzville, MO), the nation’s top returner in the hammer throw, also made her season debut in second place, while Jordan Johnson (Quincy, IL) broke 60 feet for the first time to win the boy’s competition. USATF Junior National Championships (IN) Results

Qualification for next month’s World Junior Championship was on the line this weekend at the USATF Junior Championships in Indiana. The top two athletes were eligible to qualify as long as they have met the minimum qualifying standard. With his winning throw of 68.03 meters, Michael Feldman just broke the men’s standard by 3 centimeters. His brother Steven took second place. In the girl’s competition, Alyssa Wilson led from start to finish with Jill Shippee in second. Both have easily surpassed the barrier and are among the world’s best in the event this year. Shelby Moran (Sherwood, OR) was the top high school finisher in sixth place, just one foot off of her personal best. Read more

Michigan Indoor Track Series State Championship Results

Junior Alex VanDeWeght (Ithaca, MI) and sophomore Aliyah Boeve (Zeeland East, MI) both set personal bests to win at this year’s Michigan Indoor Track Series State Championship hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. Read more

USATF National Junior Olympic Championships (KS) Results

The USATF National Junior Olympic Championships took place early in the week with 148 throwers across two age groups making the trip to Kansas. Danielle Gregory (Liberty, Wentzville, MO) was the big highlight of the competition with a new Junior Olympic age group record of 167’9″. Despite competing in the younger 15-16 year old age group she produce the best girl’s mark across both age groups. There were several other impressive performances including a 10 foot best by Mya Muse (Vestal, NY) to win the 17-18 year old age group. Read more

USATF Youth Outdoor Championships (IL) Results

Just a few days after the USATF Junior Championships in Sacramento, the USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships took place in Illinois on Monday with athletes competing across several age groups. Throw1Deep throwers from Georgia swept the 17-18 year old category with wins from Shannah Mallett (Creekview, Canton, GA ) and Jason Judge (Walton, Marietta, GA). In the younger age group, freshman Abby Venglass (Rancho Cucamonga, Etiwanda, CA) threw a personal best for the win, while Joseph Ryan (Massapequa, NY) was also a winner. Read more

Big River HS Championship (MO) Results

Samantha Kunza (Timberland, Wentzville, MO) improved her personal best on Sunday at the Big River HS Championship in Missouri. Not only is that a new state-leading mark, but it is the second best mark in the nation by a sophomore this year. Read more

Chicagoland Throw Series (IL) Results

As the nation’s best throwers gear up for international competitions in the coming weeks, many travelled to Chicago this weekend for a tune-up meet. And the results were spectacular: one national lead and two top-ten all-time marks. Competing amongst collegiate and post-collegiate throwers junior national champion Haley Showalter (Valor Christian, Highlands Ranch, CO) not only improved her national lead, but also broke her personal best and Colorado state record from last summer. Her best mark of 194’1″ also moved her up to seventh on the all-time national list. Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) was the second best prep thrower at the meet. Alyssa Wilson (Donovan Catholic, Toms River, NJ) added six feet to her personal best to place third among the high school girls. Read more

USATF Youth Championships (IL) Results

usatf_youthAfter capturing titles in the World Youth Trials on Tuesday, Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) and Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA) returned to win the USATF youth title on Wednesday. In the boy’s 17-18 Division, local thrower Nicholas Matthews (Moline, Coral Valley, IL) took second place with a personal best of 187’7″ and Liam Hennessy (Millard North, Omaha, NE) placed third, also with a personal best. Behind Brinson in the girl’s 17-18 competition was sophomore Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) and Haleigh Sudbeck (Camas, WA). Read more

USATF World Youth Trials (IL) Results

Just days after winning the USATF Junior National Championship, Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) headed east for a chance to make Team USA for this month’s World Youth Championships. While the travel seemed to bring down his distance a little, he had no trouble getting the win again with the lighter 5-kilogram hammer. His winning throw of 71.39 meters out distanced runner up Joshua Hernandez (El Paso Del Valle, El Paso, TX). Kamryn Brinson (Marist, Atlanta, GA) won the girl’s competition. Read more
