Millrose Games Trials (NY) Results

At the Millrose Games Trials on Wednesday Tom Reiser (Minisink Valley, Slate Hill, NY) became just the fourth thrower to break 70 feet so far this year. With two throws over 70 feet, he is showing strong form already this year and has improved his best nearly 14 feet compared to last season. In the girl’s competition Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI) hit a personal best in the first round to take the early lead, but it was Brittany Curtin (Connetquot, Bohemia, NY) who ended up with the win after a sixth round personal best. U.S. Army Hispanic Games (NY) Results

Senior Phillip Rosendorf (Susan E. Wagner, Staten Island, NY) added more than three feet to his best to win this year’s U.S. Army Hispanic Games at the Armory in New York City. In the girl’s competition Amanda Howe (Southington, CT) won in her first ever indoor weight competition. Read more

Bishop Loughlin Games (NY) Results

New meet and facility records were set by Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) and Alyssa Wilson (Donovan Catholic, Toms River, NJ) at the Bishop Loughlin Games on Staten Island. Wilson, also the nation’s top shot putter, already added nearly five feet to her best from last season in her season debut. Briere, the early national leader, had close competition after a personal best from local thrower Phil Rosendorf (Susan E. Wagner, Staten Island, NY) but held on for the win. Biere and Wilson also took home field event MVP of the meet honors. Read more

New York Relays Results

With a big personal best in the fourth round, Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, Clifton Park, NY) captured a narrow win over Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) at this year’s New York Relays. Shippee was competing in her first outdoor meet of the season and her winning throw of 176’2″ added nearly 40 feet to her best from last year and is the fourth best mark in the US so far in 2016. In the boy’s competition Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) produced another solid result and win, while Matt Slagus (North Pocono, Moscow, PA) added 11 feet to his personal best and nearly broke 200 feet for the firs time to edge out Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) by inches. New Balance Nationals Indoors Championship (NY) Results

With national titles on the line, the competition did not disappoint at New Balance Nationals Indoors. After Emerging Elite action on Friday, the nation’s bes throwers took center stage in the Championship division on Sunday morning. Read more

Hershey USATF Youth Indoor Championships (NY) Results

New Balance Nationals Indoors isn’t the only action in New York this weekend. Down on Staten Island the Hershey USATF Youth Indoor Championship took place on Saturday. Matthew Slagus (North Pocono, Moscow, PA) and his sibling Jessica Slagus (North Pocono, Moscow, PA) produced the top marks of the meet and won the 17-18 Boys and 15-16 Girls competitions respectively. Olivia Seifert (St. Anthony’s, South Huntington, NY) also took home a title in the 17-18 Girls division, while freshman Jamie Cocca (Averill Park, NY) added four feet to his best to win the 15-16 Boys division. New Balance Nationals Indoors (NY) Emerging Elite Results

Action at New Balance Nationals Indoor started on Friday with the Emerging Elite division. Rhode Island boys swept the top three spots with Adrian Matos (Central, Providence, RI) leading the way. His winning effort of 63’3.25″ was just five inches from his best. In the girl’s competition Sydnee Walker (King’s Ridge Christian, Alpharetta, GA) also led throughout after a first round foul. Her farthest throw of 54’2″ was also just off of her indoor best. Brianna McKenzie (Lancaster, NY) also broke 50 feet for second place. Action continues on Sunday with the Championship division. New Balance Nationals Indoor Start Lists

The biggest meet of the season is almost here. On Friday afternoon competition will start at New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York. The girl’s emerging elite division will start out, followed by the boy’s emerging elite division. Then Sunday morning the girl’s championship division will commence, followed by the boy’s. With 191 competitors from across the country, the best throwers will be there. On the boy’s side the nation’s top 13 throwers are entered and 17 of the top 20. New York Indoor State Championships Results

With more than 60 competitors, the New York State Indoor Championships brought together the best throwers in the state in record number. The girl’s competition was the headline event featured the nation’s leader Jill Shippee (Shenendehowa, NY). However the surprise winner was Monae Cooper (New Rochelle, NY). Shippee fouled out of the competition and a near personal best by Cooper secured the win in her absence. Alexis Daniels (Binghamton, NY) placed second, also breaking 50 feet. Read more

Millrose Games (NY) Results

National leaders Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) and Jill Shippee were both victorious at the Millrose Games on Thursday. Colantonio had foul trouble, but after finally getting a legal throw in the fifth round he was able to win on his last attempt. Shippee, on the other hand, led from start to finish. Read more
