M-F Athletic Invitational (OH) Results

Grace Rigel (Leipsic, OH) broke 50 feet for the first time to win Sunday’s M-F Athletic Invitational in Ohio. The meet featured some close competitions, especially on the boy’s side where sophomore Tyler Arbaugh (Van Buren, OH) won by just one inch over Erik Fertig (Eastwood, Pemberville, OH). Read more

Ohio State Hammer Championships Results

Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) was just one foot from his personal best to defend his Ohio state title. Lane was one of three throwers over 200 feet, including runner-up Jacob Wickey (Medina, OH) and a personal best from bronze medalist Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH). Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) won the women’s competition in convincing fashion. Her best throw of 158’10” secured the win by more than 20 feet. Teammates Katie Roush (Centerville, OH) and Jenna Tracy (Centerville, OH) also made the podium. Read more

Larry Kohring Eastwood Relays (OH) Results

Several top Ohio throwers started the season on Friday at the Larry Kohring Eastwood Relays. Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) added nearly ten feet to his best to win. His top mark of 219’5″ now ranks second in the nation. Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH) also started his season off with a new best and broke 200 feet for the first time. In the girl’s competition Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) and Madison Pollard (Anthony Wayne, Whitehouse, OH) were separated by just 13 inches as they took first and second. OATCCC Indoor State Championship (OH) Results

In a battle of many of the nation’s top boys Jake Wickey (Medina, OH) extended his own national lead for the win. While the final result had Wickey more than five feet ahead of the Division 1 competition, it wasn’t until the finals that he actually took the lead. After a slow start, Wickey improved on every throw and hit a new personal best of 78’7″ in the final round. Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH) had the second best mark across all the divisions by tossing a six foot personal best to win the Division 2/3 competition. Read more

Spire Scholastic Showcase (OH) Results

National leader Jake Wickey (Medina, OH) added more than a foot to his best to win convincingly at the Spire Scholastic Showcase on Sunday. But for the majority of the competition he wasn’t even leading. The meet featured an intense showdown of the nation’s top four throwers. Jordan Geist (Knoch, Saxonburg, PA) led throughout much of the competition until Wickey unleashed a final round personal best to move into first. Geist held on for second and Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) took third. State leader Madison Pollard (Anthony Wayne, Whitehouse, OH) also won the girl’s competition. Read more

OATCCC Northwest District (OH) Results

After a slow start to the year Nick Lane (Bowling Green, OH) added five feet to his season’s best to win at the OATCCC Northwest District meet on Friday. In second place Sam Meece (Napoleon, OH) also added nearly three feet to his personal best. State leader Carrol Pauley (Riverdale, Mount Blanchard, OH) won a close girls competition over Madison Pollard (Anthony Wayne, Whitehouse, OH). Read more

Kent State HS Meet 2 (OH) Results

Senior Molly Leppelmeier (McComb, OH) improved her best by more than a foot at the latest Kent State high school meet. Her new best of 53’6″ won the competition by more than ten feet, and also moved her up to second in Ohio so far this year. Read more

Tiffin University HS Meet 2 (OH) Results

Kathleen Young (Warrensburg-Latham, Warrensburg, IL) travelled east on Sunday to the second in the series of Tiffin University high school indoor meet and came back with a new best. She easily won the competition with a new personal best of 54’4″, ranking her second best among midwest throwers so far in 2016. Read more

Youngstown State HS Meet 2 (OH) Results

National shot put leader Jordan Geist (Knoch, Saxonburg, PA) won the weight throw at the second Youngstown State meet of the year on Saturday. He broke 75 feet for the second time in his career and easily won the competition by nearly 15 feet. In the girl’s competition Tori McKinley (Hickory, Hermitage, OH) added several feet to her best to win. Read more

Akron Jerome Fields Open Meet (OH) Results

National leader Jacob Wickey (Medina, OH) came within five inches of his personal best to win at the Akron Jerome Fields Open Meet on Saturday. Despite the great throw, winning wasn’t easy as Brent Fairbanks (Austintown Fitch, Youngstown, OH) launched a personal best on his first attempt to become the third thrower this year to break 75 feet. Wickey held on for the win and every legal throw by the two measured over 70 feet. Read more
