Rhode Island Class Championships Results

The postseason continued in Rhode Island on Saturday as athletes competed across three class championships in Providence. The top boy’s mark was once again produced by Bobb Colantonio (Barrington, RI) in Class B, with Jason Briere (Woonsocket, RI) and Brian Neal (Rogers, Newport, RI) also winning class titles. Colantonio continues to produce consistent marks this season and the national leader was once again over 79 feet. Read more

Rhode Island Freshman State Championships Results

Freshman from across Rhode Island competed at the Freshman State Indoor Championships on Wednesday. Annika Kelly (Barrington, RI) was the top competitor at the meet. Currently ranked as the third best freshman in country, Kelly won the girl’s competition by four feet. Jacob Furland (Classical, Providence, RI) won a close boy’s competition. Read more

Sweeney & Headley Elite Performance Meets

A personal best from Adrian Matos (Central, Providence, RI) won at the Sweeney Elite Performance Meet in Providence on Saturday. He beat out a couple of other personal bests from Jody Harris (Central, Providence, RI) and Abraham Salako (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI). Meanwhile, after a third place finish in New York on Friday, Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) returned to Rhode Island to easily win the girl’s Headley Elite Performance Meet. In second place Chelsea Yang (Pilgrim, Warwick, RI) added nearly five feet to her best. Read more

Rhode Island Boys Division Championships Results

The Rhode Island Girls Division Championships took place already over the weekend, but the boys had to wait until Tuesday and Wednesday for their turn. With competitions across four division, state leader Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) had the best result with a winning throw of 77’5″ in the Metropolitan Division. There was also great depth in the Northern Division with Jared Brier (Woonsocket, RI) and Michael Coppolino (Cumberland, RI) both over 60 feet. Read more

Rhode Island Girls Division Championships Results

A new state leading mark from Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) led the way at the Rhode Island Division Championships on Saturday as athletes across the state competed in four different division championships. Competing in the Headley Divison, Jacobsen added more than two feet to her season’s best to win by four and a half feet over state number two Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI). Another top mark came from the Bayha Division, where Meagan Mallory (Smithfield, Esmond, RI) also broke 50 feet to easily win. Read more

East Coast Track and Field Invitational (RI) Results

In his second meet in as many days, Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) threw another meet record to dominate the in-state competition. Throwing at the East Coast Track and Field Invitational in Providence, Colantonio was eleven feet up on the field. Read more

Tom Costigan (Chariho, Wood River Junction, RI) and Erica Belvit (Bloomfield, CT) were the winners at this year’s Rhody Classic. Read more

World Trophies Invitational (RI) Results

Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) became the sixth thrower this year to break 70 feet en route to a win at the World Trophies Indoor Track & Field Invitational. Briere, who ended his sophomore season last year just under the barrier, won the competition by nearly nine feet while Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI) threw a new best to win the girl’s competition. RI Classic Invitational (RI) Results

National leaders Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) and Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) were both in action on Wednesday at the RI Classic Track and Field Invitational. Colantonio was again over 78 feet and easily took the boy’s win, although junior Jared Briere (Woonsocket, RI) added more than two feet to his personal best and approached 70 feet for second place. Jacobsen improved her personal best and national lead by several inches to win a very close competition over Lysah Russell (Classical, Providence, RI) and Monae Cooper (New Rochelle, NY). Russell and Cooper both threw bests and top-5 national performances for second and third place respectively. Read more

RITCA Invitational (RI) Results

Seniors Bobby Colantonio (Barrington, RI) and Courtney Jacobsen (Toll Gate, Warwick, RI) both posted big improvements at the RITCA Invitational on Saturday. Colantonio posted an early national lead at the start of the month, but added another nearly four feet to his season’s best to easily capture the win. Jacobsen started the season with a new personal best which put her second nationally. But with another improvement of over a foot to win on Saturday, she overtook national leader Maddy Rabing (Lakeridge, Lake Oswego, OR). Meagan Malloy (Smithfield, Esmond, RI) also broke 50 feet for the first time to place second. Read more
